In his current role as Human Resources Coordinator for the City of Asheville, he oversees a variety of programs. One of his responsibilities is to coordinate the interdepartmental training within the City of Asheville. This involves recruiting subject matter experts from among the city staff and outside consultants to be faculty for the Corporate University; reviewing training material prior to purchase to determine feasibility of use in city programs; occasionally serving as facilitator and/or trainer for large and small groups; coordinating the activities of the Asheville City Quality Council and the Asheville City Lead Team. Lewis has also worked for the VA Hospital and Human Resources Management Services. He is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC where he received a B.A. in Health and Physical Education. An active member of the community, Lewis has served on the Board of Directors for 25 different organizations. A testament to his diversity of skill and interests, these organizations include: YMI Cultural Center, YMCA Central Board of Management, WCQS Public Radio, American Red Cross, Branch Banking and Trust Citizen Advisory Board, Asheville City Board of Education, RiverLink, Inc., Asheville Track Club, Building Bridges of Asheville, Manna Food Bank, and Community Foundation of Western North Carolina.
