Robert Griffin

Robert Griffin is a native of Asheville and Buncombe County.  He graduated from Montreat College with a MBA.  Robert currently serves as the Interim Water Resources Director.  He served for three years as the Director of Building Safety and has 28 years in the fire service serving last as the Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Asheville. 

Robert is a graduate of Municipal Administration at the School of Government UNC-Chapel Hill and is designated a Chief Fire Officer by the Commission on Professional Credentialing, one of 506 in the world.  He is a graduate of Leadership Asheville 26.

Robert volunteers on various boards in the community, including – United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, Mountain Area Child and Family Center, and is the Vice-Chair of the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission.  He is active in his church, sings in the choir, and volunteers with the Skyland Fire and Rescue Department.

Robert has three horses, one of which competes at the Grand Priz level in Dressage, a dog, and a cat.  He believes that public service was his calling in life.
