Since that time, he has continued to teach but has also held several administrative posts including the Associate Director of the Honors and Undergraduate Research Programs as well as the Director of Student Life. Today he serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Relations. History remains one of Kevan’s passions. Most of his professional research has been focused on the development of Urban Appalachia, including his hometown of Asheville. Of particular interest is the role of professional city planning has played in the growth and development of cities. Kevan has presented his work at several national historical conferences as has also had his research published in the Journal of Appalachia as well as in several collected works.
