LEAD Logo

LEAD, an acronym for Learn, Engage, Achieve, and Develop, embodies the goals of our  leadership development efforts.

  • Learn - is learning about the community, yourselves, and what it means to effectively lead.
  • Engage – encourages everyone to become more involved in the community.
  • Achieve – is putting into practice all you have learned and striving to accomplish the goal that will better our community.
  • Develop – is dedicating time to building the leadership skills of others, age does not matter, the more effective leadership we have, the better our community will be.

LEAD is set on a backdrop of the mountains of western North Carolina’s unique and lively geography to represent the exact areas that we target – our home, our community, and our future. The LEAD logo is intended to vividly portray the lofty aspirations we have for the future of all our communities.Seven Pillars of a Healthy Community

Leadership Program and Fellows

Communities need leadership with vision, energy and skills to set common goals and galvanize people into action. It needs to be well-informed on the community as well as educated by diverse interest groups in order to set the path toward improvement.Leadership is an ongoing process. The Leadership Asheville program acts as a stepping stone to familiarizing each participant with local government, community issues, and service opportunities.

The Leadership Asheville program allows a diverse group of people to interact and find common goals to work toward for the betterment of our community.

While examining relational and community leadership theory, participants discover their potential for making a difference in the greater Asheville area. They learn results-oriented leadership, connect with networks of action-oriented people and help to meet the 21st century challenges in their community.

Leadership Asheville refers to participants who have completed the Leadership Asheville program as Fellows instead of graduates, because to graduate means to complete or finish.  Leadership Asheville’s hope is that Fellows will continue to give back to the community, long after their participation in the Leadership Asheville program.

Leadership Asheville provides Fellows with the opportunity to actively give back to the community while offering nonprofit and community organizations the skills and expertise of the Fellows.

Some examples follow of the type of work Fellows can provide:

  • Guidance with organizational development issues and strategic reviews
  • Advice on image, marketing and sponsorship
  • Brainstorming sessions to help clarify plans or projects
  • Guest speakers

As Leadership Asheville looks ahead to its next twenty-five years of contributing to building a better Asheville area, we maintain our commitment to our community and seek to always keep graduates and friends engaged. Our mission and vision are our goal, our destination. Our values are the guideposts we believe will help us to one day arrive there. As always we welcome the community in discussion of our future and thus seek your feedback on our statements relating to mission, vision, and values. Please share your thoughts with us at (828) 348-0673, or by email at programs@leadershipasheville.org.
