Asheville-Buncombe Education Coalition

The Education Coalition works one on one with area students to help support our students and our schools in reducing the achievement gap and increasing graduation rates. The Coalition is always looking for volunteers to serve as tutors/mentors or support volunteers.

YMCA of Western North Carolina

The YMCA of Western North Carolina offers a variety of activities for adults and families. Programs such as Adventure Guides are designed to help children and parents communicate through fun activities while building understanding and mutual respect. There are also health enhancement classes such as aerobics, yoga, and personal training that improve flexibility, stress level, cardiovascular fitness and much more.

Asheville City Parks and Recreation

Asheville-Buncombe County Youth Council

This is a youth council open to all high school students in Buncombe County. Its purpose is to develop responsible leadership among young people, to promote involvement of youth in community affairs, and to give youth a voice and promote involvement in government. Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations that offers effective character, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth. Boy Scouts works with young men to help develop character, citizenship, and personal fitness by focusing on a vigorous program of outdoor activities.

Girl Scouts

Girl Scout members participate in a variety of programs that include trips, tours, and special classes on the environment, safety, animal care, creativity, diversity, substance abuse, healthy habits, computers, and more. Girls plan and participate in educational programs, troop trips, and community service activities.

Venturing

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. The program creates exciting and meaningful activities that help youths pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens. YMCA of Western North Carolina

The YMCA of Western North Carolina offers a variety of activities for youths. Aside from youth sport leagues, there is also a Leaders Club, Outreach, Youth & Government, Teen Club, and a summer-time C.I.L.T. program. At the YMCA teens are exposed to service learning, team building, character development and leadership opportunities.
